Position: Clerk / Responsible Financial Officer
Job Description
We are looking for an organised, enthusiastic and reliable individual to join our Community Council as Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer. The role includes:
- Attending the Community Council’s monthly meetings and keeping accurate minutes.
- Organising and attending any additional meetings as required.
- Receiving, preparing and distributing official emails and letters.
- Co-ordinating meetings, presentations and visits.
- Managing the Community Council’s finances and carrying out the duties of Responsible Financial Officer.
- Preparing financial documents including the precept and annual accounts.
- Receiving and distributing any relevant correspondence.
- Preparing posters, advertisements and reports.
- Ensuring the Council’s website (WordPress) is accurate and up to date.
- Maintaining regular communication with Ceredigion County Council and One Voice Wales.
- Taking minutes for the Hall and Playing Field Committee, issuing hire invoices and keeping the relevant accounts.
- Assisting with Hall and Playing Field matters as needed.
- Carrying out any other reasonable duties requested by the Councillors.
(Until further notice, the current burial clerk will be responsible for burial matters at the Parish Cemetery and will liaise with the Clerk regarding payments.)
Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
- The ability to communicate confidently in both Welsh and English, producing accurate bilingual documents.
- Excellent organisational skills and a careful approach to work.
- The ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Experience in financial work, budgeting and bookkeeping (advantageous).
- Good IT skills, particularly with WordPress and office software.
- A strong understanding of confidentiality.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small community team.
Salary:
£13.50 per hour
Minimum 18 hours per month
