The following report of the Council’s work during the year 2016/2017 was presented by the clerk:-
Ten meetings of the Community Council were held during the year, and one meeting to deal with matters relating to the Base Station installation at Bronhelem, also one meeting painting the seats around the village.
PCSO John Evans has attended several of the Council Meetings when possible. Also Mr. Ben Lake attended a meeting.
Cllr Mary Pearce finished due to moving home. Cllr Lisa Jones was co-opted on the Council as there were no names put forward for the empty seat.
Representatives attended the following meetings:-
- A royal visit by Prince Charles to the village
- Cylch Caron
- Llanddewi Brefi School Harvest Festival
- Christingle Service
- Dai Masons installation as Chairman of Ceredigion
- Hospice in the Home
- Fuel Allotments Committee
- Meet the leader in Tregaron
- Reports on the Traws Link Cymru Group on the Railway line.
- Ysgol Henry Richard.
Cllr Rhodri Evans reported on matters relating to Ceredigion County Council.
Several matters have been discussed with the Highways Department. The standing water on reoads at different locations. And the new 30 m.p.h.signs on the road and entering the village. Also dog fouling in different areas of the village.
Other matters relating to Llanddewi Brefi is that the Council have decided to see how much it will cost to turn the Street Lights back on after midnight.
The Defibrillator has been placed on the Foelallt Wall by the phone box. And a steering committee has been organised to make sure it all works.
The grass at both Cemeteries was cut as usual and the hedge trimmed. The playing filed was also cut and the usual footpaths were cleared during the summer.
Flowers were planted at the War Memorial and Remembrance Day Service was held as usual and a wreath was placed by the Chairman. Rev S Morgan conducted the Service.
It was resolved to precept for £8000 and a Cemetery grant of £3027 was forthcoming from Ceredigion County council.
A budget review has been passed by the Council for 17/18 and the Audit of the Council Accounts for financial year 2016 was completed in September.
The Council renewed their One Voice Wales Membership, and we have started a new insurance company Zurich which were cheaper for the same cover.
Several requests for donations were given Ras Gwyl Dewi, Young farmers club and Gogerddan Hunt.
Several Planning application were granted.
The Hall committee have been updating the hall and a new kitchen has been put in and several upgrades have been done.
We also had a Carnival in the village which was a great success.
The Christmas tree was placed on the square over the Christmas period, and the fox hounds displayed on the square on Boxing Day.
Christmas dinner was held at the New Inn.
